Description
Circa 1829. The Shenandoah Valley is the setting for this bed & breakfast, located on 32 secluded acres of woods, streams and rolling fields. The inn was built using bricks made on the property, and once served as a plantation home and possibly a stagecoach stop. The home still maintains original heart-of-pine floors, ornate mantels and other period features. Guest rooms feature antiques, some are family heirlooms. Four guest rooms include fireplaces; three offer double Jacuzzi tubs. All rooms have a mountain view. A variety of reading material is available in the library. Stoneridge offers a large selection of Virginia wines to its guests for purchase. The gourmet breakfasts might include blueberry buckle, stuffed French toast and baked eggs. The meal is served either in the candlelit dining room or on the back patio.

Historic Interest |
Once the center of a small plantation, Stoneridge Bed & Breakfast offers a glimpse of antebellum life. The original house, built in 1829 with bricks made on the property, features the living room, library, and two of the five bedrooms. The dining room and Summer kitchen with its large, open fireplace were added shortly thereafter. Explore the grounds and find a restored spring house, a time-worn corn crib, the chimney ruin of a former servant cabin, and the spring in the woods that once provided water for the inhabitants. The house is rumored to have been a stagecoach stop for weary travelers. Enter through the original Adams-style double doors and find restored rooms with high ceilings, intricate mouldings, heart-of-pine floors, ornate mantels and other period features. Historic sites nearby: Historic Lexington, Virginia, Robert E. Lee Chapel, George C. Marshall Museum, VMI Museum, Stonewall Jackson House, Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetary, Washington and Lee University (5 miles), Natural Bridge (10 miles), Wade's Mill (25 miles)
