Circa 1809. Adjacent to Mary Baldwin College in downtown Staunton, the oldest city in the Shenandoah Valley, this small hotel consists of seven renovated buildings with modern conveniences. Guest bedrooms and suites, some with balconies or fireplaces, are furnished with antiques, Oriental carpets, robes and TVs. A comfortable reading and writing area features Internet access. Breakfast is served in Chumley's Tearoom and includes a choice of homemade specialties, breads and fresh fruit. The Dining Room serves lunch and dinner made with local and regional produce, simply yet stylishly prepared. Owners and innkeepers Joe and Evy have been offering their warm hospitality since 1984 and will readily assist with trip planning. Don't miss Shenandoah Shakespeare's Blackfriars Playhouse, one of the world's two authentic Shakespeare theaters, just two blocks away.
