Description

Circa 1878. Gracing more than one acre in the Daniels Hill Historic District, this 1878 red brick Italianate mansion proudly welcomes leisure and business travelers after a meticulous four-year restoration and renovation. Carriage House Inn Bed & Breakfast is located in Lynchburg, Virginia in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains along the banks of the James River. Enjoy refreshments in the formal parlor or on the wraparound front porch. Guest bedrooms and suites are named for members of the Watts family, the home's first owners. Soak in an original clawfoot tub and schedule a massage or body treatment with a certified therapist. Amenities include Egyptian cotton towels, fine linens, coal-burning fireplaces, robes, slippers and turndown service with water and chocolates. Linger over a three-course gourmet breakfast before taking a scenic bike ride.

This property has been featured in Old Town Lynchburg local station (June, July, August 2007).

Location: City/Urban.

Inkeepers Notes

Four years and three months of renovations have made this historic mansion come to life. Great care was taken to preserve the history and architecture of this magnificent home. Original mantels (7) many of the original light fixtures, doors, floors, tubs and bathroom sinks remain. When replacement items were required, salvage yards were sought out to find items of the era to blend into this home. Paint colors are appropriate to the late 1800s. Take a step back in history and enjoy your stay with us. Relax and unwind with a massage in your suite or just relax on our over-size (almost 800 square feet) front porch.
