Description
Circa 1890. This beautifully restored late Victorian was built originally by Wales Johnson, a saw-mill owner and craftsman. The gleaming cherry and maple wood floors and moldings, exterior eaves and twin chimneys are a tribute to the original owner's attention to detail and workmanship. Although the inn passed hands a couple of times, the integrity of the interior and exterior designs has never been compromised. Fine antique furnishings, decorative arts and Oriental rugs are a few of the elegant and sophisticated features that have been maintained throughout the years. French-cut crystal, a library of classics and a parlor with a welcoming fire add to the ambiance. Each guest room is inspired by a different style and period: French Empire, Brass and Bamboo inspired by Brighton Castle, and New England Country. A gourmet breakfast featuring house specialties such as Sante Fe omelets, fruit compote in champagne and poached eggs in puff pastry are offered daily. Listed in the National Register, the inn offers more than four lush acres of manicured gardens and pathways.
