Description
Circa 1806. Surrounded by 25 acres of woods and meadows, this New England farmhouse has been renovated with extreme attention to preserving its historic integrity. Wide pine floors with square head nails, post and beam construction and mullion windows retain the inn's quaint heritage. The common areas offer a formal living room with grand piano, an open, fieldstone fireplace in the lodge room (which has games and books) and a TV/VCR. Spacious guest bedrooms and suites in the main house and cottage boast warm, comfy featherbeds. Families might enjoy the separate cottage which features a bright living room and small kitchen. Breakfast begins in the sunny dining room with different items that may include cider-poached pears, strawberry bread, baked puff pancakes with orange-apricot sauce and featherbed eggs. Relax in the gazebo overlooking the pond, then explore the year-round activities of Mad River Valley.
