Historic Interest |
Built in 1851 near the ferry that brought goods into early Jefferson, Wise Manor has been in the same family since 1908. Once occupied by General Buell, it was home to the Stern family, early Jefferson postmaster and postmistress honored by a bronze fountain in downtown Jefferson. The home was lovingly restored by Jefferson's town historian, Katherine Ramsay Wise, who began accepting guests in 1974. People love to hear the history of the family who now own the home, as well as those who previously owned it. The decor and colors are Victorian and early 20th century(1927). Rooms are feminine and airy.
