Between Austin and San Antonio on the Guadalupe River, stands this inn with large decks that overlook the river. Peace and tranquility are at the heart of guests' experience at the Lambs Rest, where they can hear the sounds of birds and wildlife during the day and draw up close to the crackling fire at night. Two large decks and a garden terraced to the river invites relaxation with fountains, ponds, herb gardens, large oaks and giant cypress trees. The six accommodations include one suite and one cottage. A full gourmet breakfast is served in the dining room or on the veranda overlooking the river. Breakfast fare includes such delights as Orange Frosty Frappe, Vancluse Eggs with asparagus and red pepper sauce, cheese grits, sausage, and a variety of homemade breads and biscuits served with the inn's special honeys, jams and sauces. During the spring and summer, Bluebonnets and other Texas wildflowers abound in nearby breathtaking fields. Between the quiet Comal River and the rapids of the Guadalupe River, guests can enjoy a variety of water sports including kayaking, rafting, canoeing, tubing and fly-fishing.
