Circa 1868. Bordered by a white picket fence, Kriegel's Guest Haus spans one acre in the town of Chappell Hill, about 30 miles from Round Top in the Texas Hill Country. Stay in the 1868 house built in the area's classic German style. Pier and Beam construction used square nails and wood pegs. The Victorian interior includes high ceilings, Oriental rugs, art collections, original stencils on the ceiling, wood walls and floors of the parlor, period antiques and reproductions. Perfect for families, the Country Cottage was built in 2000 incorporating the 1890 summer kitchen. Breakfast boasts a hearty German flair with locally grown produce and homemade preserves served in the dining room or on the patio. The gardens feature vintage roses, bluebonnets and other and native flowers.

The 1868 house was built as a wedding house for a newly married couple. It is built in a classic German style used in early Texas communities. Originally, hand-painted stenciling existed throughout the house, and still remain in the parlor, on the walls, ceiling and floor. The builder's signature block and letters from the 1890s are on display.
