Description
Circa 1925. During its heyday, parties with hundreds of guests were not uncommon at this Gatsby-era estate. The inn's name derives from the innkeepers' Scottish heritage and means welcome in Gaelic. The inn is decorated with a variety of antiques, including some family pieces. One special decoration is an 18th-century quilt designed by the innkeeper's great-great-great grandmother. The innkeeper also has her father's World War I uniform on display and her mother's wedding dress. Complimentary wine, brandy and other beverages are provided in the inn's pub, which formerly served as a speakeasy during the days of Prohibition. Breakfasts, served either in the formal dining room or on the screened wraparound verandas, include baked goods such as homemade sourdough bread, sticky buns or Amish friendship bread accompanied by homemade jams and jellies. The daily entrée might be cheesy eggs with Canadian bacon or perhaps thick slices of sourdough French toast with Pennsylvania maple syrup. The surrounding area offers lakes, parks and outdoor activities in the Endless Mountains, as well as antique shops, wineries, the Corning Glass Museum and New York's Finger Lakes.
This property has been featured in Happenings Magazine, Towanda Daily Review, Inn Traveler Magazine, WNEP Home and garden show, PBS special. Location: Country, Mountains, Near New York Finger Lake and wine tour country.
