Description
Circa 1786. Aside from its notoriety as the first deeded house in what became the town of Gettysburg, The Brafferton bears a bullet shot into the fireplace mantel during the Civil War battle. The rooms are appointed with 18th- and 19th-century antiques that belonged to the owners' ancestors. The dining room boasts a unique mural painted on all four walls depicting the early town of Gettysburg. Lavish breakfasts are served in the colorful room on tables set with English china, old silver and crystal. Guest quarters are available in the original house or in the old carriage house across the brick atrium. Carriage house rooms feature stenciling and skylights. The garden area offers a large wooden deck to relax on as guests take in a variety of spring and summer flowers. The National Register inn is near all of Gettysburg's historic attractions, including the Gettysburg National Military Park.
