DescriptionCirca 1924. Built as a secluded fishing lodge, this historic inn once hosted the likes of President Herbert Hoover, Zane Grey, Walt Disney, Clark Gable and Carole Lombard. It is said that after Lombard's death, Gable spent several weeks here lamenting the loss of his beloved wife. A complete restoration took place in the late 1990s, reviving the inn back to its former glory. The log exterior, surrounded by towering trees and 10 fragrant acres, is a welcoming site. Inside, crackling fires from the inn's rock fireplaces warm the common rooms. Vaulted ceilings and exposed log beams add a cozy, rustic touch to the pristine, airy rooms all decorated in Pacific Northwest style. Many rooms include a whirlpool tub and river rock fireplace, and several offer excellent views of the Rogue River, which runs through the inn's grounds. In addition to the inn rooms, there are riverfront cabins, offering an especially romantic setting. In the evenings, guests are treated to a wine and cheese reception, and in the mornings, a continental breakfast is served. The staff can help plan many activities, including fishing and white-water rafting trips. This property has been featured in Travel & Leisure Magazine, New York Magazine, LA Magazine, Sunset, SF Magazine, Affluent Living, Country Living, Western Interiors Magazine, Select Registry, Ashalnd Magazine, 1000 Places to See Before You Die, Oregon Business Magazine. Location: On the bank of Rogue River. Inkeepers NotesBuilt in 1924, the "We Ask You Inn" (Weasku Inn) lodge attracted outdoor enthusiasts and sport fishermen, the likes of which included author Zane Grey and actors Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Jackie Cooper, Bing Crosby, Ann Southern, Robert Sterling, David Niven and many more. Only recently was the lodge completely renovated and riverside cabins rebuilt with faithful compliance to the original rustic elegance that made the resort a one-of-a-kind lodging experience even in the 1920s. A vast collection of early photographs decorate walls throughout guest rooms, cabin suites and common area, documenting the lodge's popularity with guests whose names are now household words. The productive fishing hole that made the Inn's location desirable from the start is still considered one of the best on the Rogue River. Named by Travel and Leisure magazine as one of the country's "great American lodges," the tranquil riverfront setting of the Weasku Inn is nestled among tall, fragrant pine trees on the edge of the Rogue Wilderness. Today's Weasku Inn offers five beautifully appointed rooms on the second floor of the lodge, each with its own distinctive charm. On the river frontage sit two 900-square-foot cabin suites, complete with private balconies, fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. Also available are nine river cabins and an A-frame cabin with a loft, all of which overlook the river. Guests can enjoy a complimentary continental breakast each morning and an evening wine and cheese reception in the lodge. We are confident that your stay with us will be a rich and memorable experience--one that will be talked about for years to come. A word to the wise: rarely have we hosted a guest at Weasku Inn who has not wanted to extend their stay with us. Is it the river? The hospitality? The fresh air and casual atmosphere? You tell us.
