Description
Circa 1880. Hotel Belvedere began its life as a private mansion, built in the Georgian style of architecture. Eventually, it was transformed into a hotel and then into a boarding house. Thankfully, it has been restored and refurbished back to its original state. The interior boasts the fine woodwork, carved mantels and marble floors one expects in a grand mansion. Elegant guest rooms are decorated in period style with antiques, and beds are dressed with fine white linens. In warm weather, the innkeepers serve a continental breakfast on the private terrace. Guests can enjoy the morning fare in their room or in front of a warm fire in the living room. Secluded three hours from Toronto along the shores of Lake Ontario, Kingston is a charming site for a getaway. Historic homes, museums and dinner cruises are among the offerings in town. The town once served as the capital of Canada.
