Description
Circa 1854. Enjoy warm American hospitality and charm in this 150-year-old Victorian in the Berkshire foothills. Simmons' Way Village Inn is located in the village of Millerton near Lakeville, Conn., and is the birthplace of famed baseball great Eddie Collins. The inn was chosen by American Express/Hertz as the "Quintessential County Inn 1991." Recently, the inn and restaurant were acclaimed by Gannett papers. Its nine guest bedrooms and one suite, some with fireplaces, are each uniquely decorated with antiques. A full breakfast is included in the tariff. Picnic lunches, dinners, banquets and catering can be arranged through the restaurant on premises. The frequently changing menu includes a variety of fare from seasonal game to pasta to vegetarian and international specialties. Outdoor activities abound, including fishing, hiking, tennis, golf, swimming, boating, cross-country skiing, biking and horseback riding. The inn is near the Lime Rock Race center, summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, historic homes and the Culinary Institute of America.
