Description

Circa 1855. Built prior to the Civil War, this restored Victorian farmhouse is secluded on more than two picturesque acres in New York’s Pochuck Valley. The spacious front veranda is filled with comfortable wicker furnishings, inviting guests to relax and enjoy the country setting. Guest rooms are decorated with a romantic flair. Three rooms include canopied beds. Deluxe cottage suites include a whirlpool tub for two and a fireplace. Seasonal, farm-fresh fruits start off the breakfast service, which might include an entrée such as Texas-style French toast or buttermilk pancakes accompanied by bacon or sausage. The home is close to ski areas, golf courses, wineries, historic home tours and antique stores. The Appalachian Trail, Hudson River and Greenwood Lake are other nearby attractions.

Location: Country and Mountains.

Inkeepers Notes

Relax and forget the outside world for a moment. Imagine yourself in a comfortable rocker on a wide front porch sipping cider. The valley below is full of geese and a small family of deer. Spend the day antique hunting or enjoy a romantic picnic at one of the nearby mountain lakes. Whether you prefer wine tasting, snowboarding or shopping, you'll love coming home to the comfort and pleasantly relaxed atmosphere of The Glenwood House Bed and Breakfast where everyone is treated like an old friend.

Portraits of the original owners, Margaret Moorehouse and Lynn Roy can be found in the library. Their descendants still own all of the fields and valley which surround the B&B. The Lenape Indians settled in the valley in front of the house over 10,000 years ago and artifacts are still being unearthed by the plows to this day.
