DescriptionThis opulent world-class inn is a replica of the Renaissance-era Lancellotti Villa in Frascati, Italy. It is listed in the National Register. Although originally built as a residence, it became a monastery for Capuchin monks. Now it is one of the finest resorts in the U.S. Renovated under the direction of award-winning designer William Schickel, there are 10 two-bedroom suites, some with views of the lake. Here, you may have an experience as fine as Europe can offer, without leaving the country. Some compare it to the Grand Hotel du Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera. The inn has been awarded four diamonds from AAA for more than two decades. Breakfast is available daily and on Sunday, brunch is served. Dinner is served each evening, and in the summer lunch is offered on the terrace. This property has been featured in Travel & Leisure, Bon Appetit, Country Inns, The New York Times, Bride's, Catholic Register, Pittsford-Brighton Post, New York, Glamour, Gourmet, Washingtonian, Toronto Star, Globe & Mail, Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, Cooking Light magazine. Location: Waterfront. Inkeepers NotesOverlooking Seneca Lake, Geneva on the Lake was built in 1914 as a private home. Modeled after Villa Lancellotti, in Frascati, Italy, its interior includes Italian marble fireplaces, wall tapestries, Ionic columns and wood-coffered ceilings. The villa later became a monastery and then, in 1981, an elegant small resort. Today, guests from around the world make this historic landmark, set in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Country, their destination point. Geneva on the Lake offers a choice of 30 unique air-conditioned suites and studios. All accommodations are beautifully furnished with Stickley. Each offers a ready kitchen, should you wish to brew that first cup of coffee yourself. Suites also include one or two bedrooms and a living room with dining area. Guests are welcomed with a basket of fresh fruit, a complimentary bottle of Finger Lakes wine, fresh coffee and daily copies of the The New York Times. The intimate Lancellotti Dining Room features marble columns, 17th century side chairs, wall tapestries, Chinese vases that glow in the warmth of candlelight and live music. The resort is perfect for special-occasion dinner parties of up to 50 or a romantic dinner for two. You will savor the cuisine in stunning surroundings. You may also enjoy breakfast and lunch al fresco on the terrace, or enjoy a grand wedding reception under a festive canopy on our South Lawn, bounded on one side by Seneca Lake, on the other by the Italianate villa.
