Description

Circa 1912. Renown for being the town's only house built with Spanish-style architecture and Mission-style decor, this historic inn is located in a gorgeous seashore setting. Tyrone Power, Errol Flynn and Robert Preston are some of the notables who have stayed here. Afternoon refreshments are served in the studio solarium. Relax on oversized comfortable furnishings by the fireplace in the Great Room. After a good night’s rest, an artistically presented and abundant breakfast may feature seasonal fruits, homemade breads and muffins, stuffed French toast, peppered ham, sausage patties or smoked bacon. The patio and veranda are resplendent with colorful flowers and indigenous fruit-bearing trees. Bikes are available for exploring the island, including the Lighthouse and nature centers. Beach towels and chairs are also provided.

Circa 1912, this historic inn has Southwestern tile designs to help mark this California-style bungalow as a representative of the early 20th century Spanish movement. Step into "Casual Elegance California Style." The inn took two years to construct and is now an award-winning bed & breakfast. Highlights of The Mission Inn include its solid concrete walls making it cool in summer. There is also a tiled terra cotta veranda enclosed in arches and lattice and a dining room brightened by a 4 foot by 8 foot picture window. Experience the magic and learn the history of this country's oldest shore resort community. Take a leisurely walk to dinner through the quaint streets exploring the gardens and Victorian architecture. Return to The Mission Inn via a walk along the waterfront on the fully-paved boardwalk, stopping to have your favorite ice cream treat as you enjoy the ocean breezes, the moon glistening off the ocean with star-filled skies above.
