Description
Circa 1890. Built in 1890 by homeopathic physician Dr. Walter H. Phillips, today this Victorian bed & breakfast inn is named after Captain Cornelius J. Mey, sent to explore this coast by the Dutch West India Company, and whose name as discoverer was given to the local shores. The Dutch heritage is reflected in the table-top Persian rugs, Delft Blue China, imported lace curtains and European antiques. Relax on the wicker-filled wraparound sun and shade veranda with hanging ferns. Meticulously restored, the dining room features chestnut oak Eastlake paneling, a leaded glass bay window and fireplace. Stay in a luxury guest bedroom with a romantic whirlpool tub for two. Linger over a hearty country breakfast with candlelight and classical music. Relax in Captain Mey's Courtyard with a good book or a picnic lunch.
This property has been featured in Georgraphia atlas New Jersey, "featured cover" Americana, Country Living, New Jersey Monthly, WKYW News (CBS) Philadelphia, WNJN (N.J. Network News Trenton), New Jersey Country Roads Magazine, Traveller. Location: Ocean Community.
