Description

Circa 1800. Centrally located just two blocks from the beach, this Carpenter Gothic home was built by Joseph Q. Williams, a local builder and three-term mayor during the Civil War. Only one block from shopping, live theater, great restaurants and cafes, the inn features Victorian décor through most of the house. Original paintings created by local artists are displayed. Three-course breakfasts are served each morning, including a fruit dish, main dish and dessert. Homemade treats are served at tea time, which is 4 p.m..

Location: Ocean Community and Historic district.

The Sunshine Room

A spacious sunny room decorated in yellow, peach and teal with a complete matching Victorian bedroom set. A queen size bed, day-bed and trundle make this an excellent room for up to 4 people. Cable TV, A/C in warmer months.

The Bayberry Suite

This one bedroom suite located exclusively on the third floor has a queen size bed, Franklin style free-standing fireplace, and private bathroom with a shower. Unwind in your separate sitting room which has a queen size sofa bed, cafe table and chairs, cable TV/VCR, mini fridge and sink. Both rooms have pedestal sinks; air-conditioning in the warmer months and heat during the cooler months. Can sleep four.

The Ivy Room

Decorated in blue, pink and neutral tones, this romantic room is soothing to the senses. The four poster queen bed and armoire are hand-painted in ivy vines. Fireplace, cable TV and AC, plus antique love-seat, table and chair complete the decor of this spacious first floor room.

The Rose Room

Romantic and exclusive, boasting a Sanijet Whirlpool, comfortable furnishings, cable TV/DVD player, mini fridge, wireless high-speed Internet, A/C, radiant heated marble bathroom floor, luxury linens and robes.

The Coral Room

Bright and cheerful second floor front bedroom with queen sized bed, antique headboard and chair, reading lamps, and A/C in warmer months. Separate private bath, with antique clawfoot tub/shower. Luxurious Bayberry Inn robes provided.

Historic Interest

The original house, which includes the dining room, was built in 1800. The front of the house was added in 1856 by Joseph Q. Williams, who became the mayor of Cape May through the Civil War. This home, mostly in original condition, has been carefully restored to preserve the beauty and character of its early days.
