Description
Surrounded by the 750,000-acre White Mountain National Forest, this inn was built in 1862 and has been recently refurbished. Spanning 8,000 feet of Saco River frontage, hike extensive trails, swim in two popular swimming holes or relax in a gazebo. The front parlor with its Arts and Crafts fireplace was designed by Gustav Stickley. Play the piano or stereo in the music room and select a book from the library to read in the sunroom. Romantic guest bedrooms and suites feature wood-burning fireplaces and some of the premium suites include private decks overlooking the gardens with mountain views, whirlpool or soaking tubs and a steam shower. Stay in the Riverview Cottage for a more spacious forest retreat. A bountiful made-to-order country breakfast is served in the dining room and a five-course dinner is available.
