Description
Circa 1820. Candles in the windows welcome guests to this handsome two-and-a-half story brick Federal home, which was built by Joseph Burleigh. Well-landscaped grounds with tall trees and green lawns frame the house. Many original features remain, including interior Indian shutters, old locks, Count Rumford fireplaces and wide-plank wood floors. Recently renovated, the rooms offer country furnishings, quilts, antiques and art. Full breakfasts are served by candlelight in the inn's library. Tilton School, Proctor Academy and New Hampton School are nearby. The Lakes Region provides a wide variety of outdoor recreation. Especially popular is canoeing and kayaking on the Pemigewasset and Merrimack Rivers. Theater, antique shops, boutiques and restaurants are also at hand.
