Description
Circa 1850. This 1850 Greek Revival inn near Dartmouth was a stagecoach inn and also part of the underground railway. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Its 50-foot porches provide guests with views of the Vermont Green Mountains. The property also includes formal gardens with a central lily pond, gazebo and wildflower meadow. The gardens are romantically lit at night. There are six guest bedrooms, four with private baths. All are decorated by the artist-owner with special attention to color, texture, light and mood. A full gourmet breakfast includes courses like fresh fruit, Blueberry Cloud Cakes with warm local maple syrup, smokehouse bacon and homemade quiche. After breakfast, guests may head out for swimming, golf and tennis in the summer, and plenty of skiing in the winter. An afternoon snack welcomes them back to the comfort of the inn.
This property has been featured in Village of Haverhill Corner in December, 2004 Issue of Antiques Magazine, Yankee Magazine Editors Choice, Unofficial Guide to New England Bed and Breakfast. Location: Country and Mountains.
