Description
Circa 1810. Any season is the perfect time to visit New England, but if you come in the fall to Keene, you can see the most carved jack-o'lanterns ever assembled in one place--over 20,000 grinning pumpkins lining the streets and holding the current world record. Adding to this great experience is a stay at this renovated 19th-century barn, now a comfortable and homey B&B. All four guest rooms, decorated with antiques found in local shops, have private baths. Games, books and a refrigerator filled with cold drinks are available in the common room. A substantial continental breakfast includes muffins or coffee cake, bread, cereals, yogurt and fruit. If it's not Halloween, there's still plenty to do here. The nearby villages with their covered bridges, lakes and antique shops are post-card perfect. For the active visitor, hiking the popular Mount Monadnock, biking, canoeing, skiing and horseback riding are easily arranged.
Location: City/Urban, Mountains and Downtown near the college.
