Circa 1929. Experience the beauty and tradition of the great Northwoods at this 1920s lodge. Inside, the lodge is wonderfully rustic, with an original stone fireplace, handmade log furniture and hand-crafted quilts. Each guest room features a king- or queen-size log bed and private bath, and suites include fireplaces, refrigerators and microwaves. All the rooms overlook Big Trout Lake, and provide stunning views of the sunset. A continental breakfast is included Monday through Saturday, and an acclaimed full-service restaurant offers delectable specialties such as cranberry-almond chicken, roast duck, or parmesan-crusted walleyed pike. Outside, the old northern forests and Whitefish Chain of Lakes provide year-round activities from boating on the lake or bicycling the Paul Bunyan Trail, to snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
