Description

Circa 1820. Unlike any other architecture on Cape Cod, this inn was built in the classic Greek Revival style and boasts massive carved columns. Gorgeous rose gardens and two acres of lush landscape surround the inn that boasts Victorian antiques and a European flair. Sip tea in oversized rockers on the front porch. Watch breathtaking sunsets down the street at Grey's Beach, Dennis Pond or from a private 40-foot balcony off the two-bedroom Village Suite. Air-conditioned guest bedrooms feature plush terry robes. Some have fireplaces or canopy beds. Indulge in a grand breakfast buffet that may include bowls of fresh fruit, just-baked Cape Cod Cranberry Bread, blueberry pancakes with sausage or bacon, Portuguese sweet bread French toast or perhaps waffles with fresh maple whipped cream and strawberries. Behind the inn there are hundreds of acres of hiking and nature trails.

This property has been featured in Cape Cod Life (Silver Award Winner of "Best Inn on Cape Cod" three consecutive years).

Location: Ocean Community and Beautiful historic village.

Historic Interest

The Inn at Cape Cod is a Greek Revival Mansion built in 1820 by Joshua Sears. At the time, Sears was the wealthiest man in New England and built the home for his lovely wife Phoebe as a gift. Later, his brother turned the manse into an Inn, ideally located at the stagecoach stop between Boston and Provincetown (the old pump still stands at the corner). Many famous writers, artists and historic figures have stayed at the Inn, including Henry David Thoreau.

Historic Awards: National Register (Applied), State Register (Applied), Local Register (Applied), National Historical Site (Applied), State Historical Site (Applied) and City Historical Site (Applied).

Historic Memberships: National Trust, State Historical Society, Local Historical Society and City Historical Society.

Historic sites nearby: Old Yarmouth Inn, Winslow Croker House (2/10 mile), Gorey House (3/10 mile), Hallet Trails

Romantic Interest

Breathtaking sunsets down the street at Grey's Beach, Dennis Pond or perhaps off your own private 30-foot porch (Villate Suite). No other architecture like this on Cape Cod. Massive, soaring carved columns with intricate details. Very Romantic rose garden and private lush acreage.
