Circa 1870. Share the joy of history, literature, poetry and artwork at this intimate New England bed & breakfast. For 25 years, the inn’s ambiance has imparted the spirit of writers and philosophers such as the Alcotts, Emerson, Hawthorne and Thoreau, who once owned and walked the grounds. Antique furnishings, weavings, hardwood floors, a welcoming fireplace and stained-glass windows all exude a wonderful warmth and gentility. Enjoy afternoon tea on a rustic garden bench in the shade of aged trees and colorful plants. The area offers woods to explore, rivers to canoe, a quaint village with museums, infamous Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, and untold treasures.

The Old North bridge, of the "shot heard 'round the world" is 1.5 miles away and Walden Pond is just a few minutes away.

 

Romantic Interest

The Emerson room is a delight with a Bay Window overlooking a field and the home of Nathaniel Hawthorne. Four-poster Queen bed, large bath with a cherry floor and private gas-log fireplace.
