Description
Circa 1811. Celebrate traditional and contemporary New England at this rambling 17-room Federal estate on two acres that was built in 1811 by master craftsmen and recently renovated. Play chess by the huge hearth in the Great Room that resembles an old tavern with hand-hewn beams and a pickled pine ceiling. Look out on rolling lawns and distant hills while meditating in the spacious and airy sunroom with French doors leading onto the terraced lawn and gardens. Savor afternoon tea in the elegant parlor. Guest bedrooms and suites are named and furnished to reflect a local historic area or person. Sleep on a four-poster, brass or sleigh bed. Several rooms boast working fireplaces. A hearty country breakfast is served in the dining room. Retreats, seminars, meetings and special events are welcome.
Location: Country and Mountains.
