Description
Circa 1861. This elegant whaling captain's house, built in 1861, has been beautifully restored and offers romantic rooms and proximity to beaches and ferries. Captain Lawrence made five whaling trips around the world, each four years in length, before retiring at age 40 to build his house. He would be happy to see the warm hospitality now being graciously offered to guests from near and far. There are six bedchambers, some with canopied beds, appointed in a light and airy, yet plush, style. A furnished apartment also is available and sleeps four. Belgian waffles with warm strawberry sauce, crepes and stratas are the inn's delicious breakfast specialties. The inn, listed in the National Register, is near the beach, bike way, ferries and bus station.
This property has been featured in Country Inns. Location: Ocean Community.
