Circa 1839. A white picket fence opens to an inviting estate on two manicured acres of English gardens and perfect lawns. Romantic accommodations offer lavishly decorated rooms with amenities such as four-poster canopy beds, fireplaces, and Jacuzzis located in all of the inn's historic buildings: the Carriage House, the Captain's Cottage, the Mansion or the magically transformed Stables. A favorite choice is the Lydia Harding Suite in the former stables. It offers two rooms with French doors opening to a balcony, two fireplaces, a lavish bath and several sitting areas. Afternoon tea and a deluxe gourmet breakfast is served in the dining room with views to the fountain and gardens. The innkeepers, one a native of Britain, also own a 16th-century coaching inn near Oxford and enjoy sharing their experiences and knowledge of both areas with their guests.
