Description
Said to be Maryland's first tourist hotel, this inn, located on 10 acres, is much as it was back in the '20s with the same metal beds and faux-wood metal dressers. The hotel is surrounded by thousands of acres of Green Ridge State Forest at the top of 1,600-foot Town Hill Mountain. The front yard overlooks three states and seven counties. Rocky Gap State Park and White Tail ski area are minutes away. The inn's large dining room is available for dinner and is popular for wedding receptions and banquets. Ask if Florence's pineapple egg dish will be served at breakfast.
This property has been featured in National Geographic - April 2005 Map of Appalachia - one of 11 sites listed in Maryland. Land of the Living - John Mash book, Md. Dept of Tourism - Map of Historical Places, National Road. Location: Mountains.
