Description
Circa 1830. High on a hill in the Lakes Region sits this architectural treasure listed in the National Register, boasting the original slate roof, woodwork and stained-glass windows. Built in 1830, its Queen Anne Stick Jacobean style did not yet exist, yet overwhelming evidence and photographs support this date. Relax on the veranda, wraparound porch or balconies. Stroll the three-acre grounds with benches and swings on landscaped lawns, picnic areas, sugar maples and mature oaks overlooking the Piscataquis River. Elegant guest bedrooms feature comfortable furnishings, artwork and books that together create an informal ambiance. Breakfast is served at a small premium anytime after 8:30 AM. Extended visits are always welcome at reduced fares. Ask about Hunting Lodge specials.
