Description
Circa 1881. "A retreat from the everyday" is the slogan here, and it is not hard to see why. Hospitality is generous at this Victorian inn, originally built for the first rector of St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church. Sitting beside the living room fireplace or on the veranda is a relaxing way to enjoy afternoon refreshments. Find a tray of hot beverages placed near guest bedrooms every morning, before savoring a gourmet breakfast on the enclosed porch. Hammocks beckon nappers, and the lawn is ready for croquet. Free off-street parking makes it easy to explore opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, biking, photography, and other local activities. The innkeepers are happy to make recommendations.
This property has been featured in Washington Post, Country Inns, Victorian Decorating & Lifestyles, Arrington's Inn Traveler.
Location: Ocean Community and Village.
Inkeepers Notes
First Bar Harbor/Mt. Desert Island business in any sector to receive Green Certification from the State of Maine. First business to receive the Environmental Leadership Award from the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce.
