Description
Circa 1887. Once known as the Oasis Club, this historic waterfront inn was the first social club on Mt. Desert Island. A Bar Harbor landmark, it survived the 1947 fire that destroyed many of the town's famous hotels. Overlooking Frenchman Bay, in summer the yellow umbrellas of the inn's Terrace Grille-Cafe dot the lawns in view of the fishing vessels and windjammers that frequent the harbor. The inn's private pier is home to a four-masted schooner, Margaret Todd, and daytime sailing trips are offered. Choose between completely refurbished rooms in the historic main inn, the Modern Oceanfront Lodge or the non-view Newport Building.
