Circa 1840. Gracefully appointed, this Greek Revival home in Belfast, Maine on gorgeous Penobscot Bay, was built in 1840. Saunter up the hand carved, cherry circular staircase to a sitting area. Relax in front of the fire in the handsome library, enjoy the fireside North Parlor with a grand and player piano. Settle into the South Parlor for games and friendly conversation by the fire. Beautifully restored guest bedrooms boast period antiques, soothing featherbeds, and exciting attributes of days gone by. Delight in sumptuous breakfasts, afternoon tea and baked treats. Sit on the veranda or gazebo and explore the grounds. The Alden House is located in the heart of town, near quaint shops and art boutiques. View magnificent harbor sunrises and sunsets.

Hiram Alden Room

Spacious and breathtaking in its size, color and ambiance. Featuring a working fireplace with original blue Italian tile framed by a 7 1/2 foot hand carved, cherry mantle. Burled walnut 4 poster queen with feather mattress, en-suite bath and original marble sink in a separate alcove. Perfect for lovers!

Penobscot Room

Named after our Bay, a pencil post queen canopy with feather mattress hosts a pink marble fireplace with a large Winslow Homer ocean print, two rich burgandy Rococo revival chairs, antique mahogany dresser and en-suite bathroom and sink. Thirsty robes invite you to your private shower one step from this magnificent room.

Emily Alden

This enchanting room, named after the wife of Hiram who built the home features a luxurious antique queen with feather mattress, candlelight in the original fireplace, sumptuous linens and cozy en-suite bath for your romantic getaway.

Elizabeth Waller

This sole first floor room looks onto the veranda. Central is a 7 1/2 foot intricately carved burled walnut queen with feather mattress. Above the Italian marble mantle hangs a serene P.S. Kroyer print filling the air with ocean ambiance.

Annie owned The Alden house at the turn of the century. A gingerbread antique queen with feather mattress adorns this quaint and cozy room with petite coal stove, garden views and en-suite private bath containing its original marble sink.

The Old Belfast

An inviting room named for our town and early American scenery on the walls. A large antique queen with featherbed and sumptuous linens. An original marble sink area tucked into a cozy corner, the room contains two oak and cane rockers for your pleasure. Room shares a large bath.

Minimum Stay Requirements: High Season two night minimum.

Cancellation: All rates are based upon a two-night stay. Premium rates do apply for one night stays in High Season. Cancellations 15 days prior to reservation receive full deposit return. Cancellations 14 days prior to arrival date are charged full fee. No refunds for single night reservations.

Pets: Innkeepers pets on premises and A Canine Country Club in the area is available for your pets indulgence while staying at The Alden House!.

Smoking: Limited.
