Historic Interest |
Ours is one of the Twin Mansions on the Prairie started in 1872 and completed in 1876. The Mansions were build for sisters who were sent with their husbands to open the bank of Fort Scott as we anticipated this town to become the Rail Center of the Frontier. These were the first mansions to be built in our city, many others followed, making this a favored site for architecture and history buffs. Historic sites nearby: fully restored 1842 military fort, Civil War battlefield (24 miles), the only Jewish Cemetery in the Kansas/Missouri territory
