Description
Circa 1895. Designed by architect Rudolph Gill from the University of Illinois for Dr. Austin Lindley, a prominent physician, this classic Queen Anne Victorian displays many of the whimsical architectural details popular during this era. The facade features imposing gables, an octagonal turret and a curved porch. Gleaming parquet floors in the four public rooms, a magnificent oak gingerbread staircase, beveled- and stained-glass windows are all part of the interior Victorian detailing. All second-floor queen guest rooms are decorated in antiques. The spacious third-floor king suite offers a sitting area and private bath. There is also a Queen suite in carriage house. Fresh fruit, homemade breads, a by-request hot dish and Columbian coffee are offered in the morning. Lindley House is located close to restaurants, parks, sports activities and the University of Illinois.
Location: City/Urban.
