Description
Circa 1938. Guests are pampered at this gorgeous tropical paradise, only a mile from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. Fluffy towels, towel warmers, robes, cozy, comfortable beds and rich decor create a feeling of warmth and romance in each of the guest rooms. Fresh flowers and original art add to the majesty of the lodge. The wonderful, gourmet meals are served in front of the lodge's historic Fireplace of Friendship, which is decked with all sorts of artifacts. The innkeepers offer truly memorable meals, praised by such publications as Bon Appetit and Gourmet Magazine. The inn has an interesting history. Built as a YMCA, it later was used during World War II as offices and a military bivouac.
