Description
Circa 1890. This inviting three-story inn, filled with marble-topped antiques, stained glass windows and working fireplaces offers a special family suite in its handsome turret. Shaded by tall trees, the inn's veranda is a favorite spot for relaxing after returning from the Savannah River Walk, which starts three blocks away. Rooms are furnished with antique beds such as a Second Empire, an ornate Eastlake and a high-backed sleigh bed. The parlors offer fringed Victorian pieces, Oriental carpets and original paintings. Breakfast is continental, or you can walk down the tree-shaded street to a local cafe, which provides Queen Anne guests a full hot breakfast. Evening in-suite dining is available by selecting room service dinners from quality restaurants working with the inn. The family tower suite offers parents with children a chance to enjoy an elegant inn, yet have quiet quarters for themselves and their young children in a special section of the inn. Best of all, your well-traveled schoolteacher/innkeepers can arrange baby-sitting services for families. A shuttle service is offered as well.
This property has been featured in Applause.
