Description
Circa 1900. The Thomas Carnegies built this four-story home on 1,300 private acres on the barrier island, most of which has been designated as a National Seashore. The mansion affords gracious southern hospitality in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy an honor bar in the old gun room and mingling fireside in the living and dining rooms or out on the rocking chairs and swings on the tree-shaded porch. Expansive views of the Intracoastal Waterway are seen from the balcony. All guest rooms feature family antiques and traditional pieces, including four-poster beds, high boys and lounge chairs. Ride one of the bicycles to view wild horses, deer, an occasional bobcat, armadillos and a variety of birds. Hiking in the marshes, beach combing and clam digging are favored activities. There are no televisions or telephones, however cell phones usually work.
This property has been featured in Southern Living, Atlanta Journal, Coastal Living. Location: Waterfront.
