Circa 1890. Recently restored, the Tallman Hotel was built in the 1890s and is now a simple yet sophisticated country boutique hotel with cottages and the Blue Wing Saloon and Café. The state-of-the-art eco-friendly environment was inspired by the surrounding setting of Lake County's Upper Lake in California, just 21/2 hours from San Francisco and Sacramento. The rustic chic interior boasts antiques and artwork depicting the local flora and fauna. Relax in the parlor, swim in the pool or soak in the hot tub. Accommodations in the historic main hotel or garden rooms feature an assortment of amenities that may include Eastlake-style furniture, clawfoot tubs, Moulton Brown bath products and patios or balconies. Enjoy a continental breakfast in the dining room with a hand-painted mural of local wildlife.

Room DetailHistoric Hotel
 The four rooms in the historic hotel building each feature 14 foot ceilings, a wide veranda and a luxurious King-size bed. Bathroom fixtures are all fully restored period pieces. These include antique clawfoot tubs, sinks, gravity flush toilets and showers with different side spray options. These rooms are perfect for those wishing to be transported back in time while being pampered with all the modern comforts.

Lower Garden Ofuro/Upper Garden Room
 Located behind the garden separating the Hotel and Saloon, the Garden rooms offer the privacy of a separate room entrance with the feel of being part of a small village. The spacious Garden Upper rooms have high ceilings, well-appointed bathrooms, a comfortable King-size bed and a pleasant sitting area in addition to the outdoor veranda. The Garden Upper rooms are the most economical choice. The Garden Lower rooms feature all of the above plus a private back deck featuring lovely plantings, an outdoor shower and a teak Japanese Ofuro soaking tub. The water in the tub is kept at a constant temperature of 95-100 degrees. All garden rooms, upper and lower, feature a private veranda overlooking the garden.

The Farmhouse Suite
The Farmhouse is located in the center of the property next to the pool. The beautiful ground level suite is ADA accessible and features a large sunny sitting room, a small kitchen and breakfast table, a bedroom featuring a King-size bed, and a wheelchair accessible bathroom. The sitting room couch makes up into a comfortable Queen-size bed. The upstairs is a lovely single garret room with private balcony overlooking the pool and garden area. This garret room is priced the same as the Upper Garden Rooms.

The Caretakers Suite
The "Caretaker's" house is located along shady Main Street next to the Conference center. The ground floor features two suites, each with sitting room, bedroom, bath and private front veranda. One of the suites has a small kitchen area and all sitting room couches make up into Queen-size beds. Upstairs is a spacious, sunny suite featuring a small private balcony and a large combination sitting room and kitchen. Sometimes called the "honeymoon suite."

The original Tallman House Hotel was built on the current site in the 1870s by Lake County pioneers Rufus and Mary Tallman. It burned to the ground on October 29, 1895 and was reconstructed by Tallman the next year.
