Description
Nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains high above Lake Tahoe, Strawberry Lodge was named for Ira Fuller Berry. (It was said that he was so tight-fisted that he passed off straw for hay to teamsters driving their wagons up to the lodge. When they arrived, they would yell, "Got any more of that straw, Berry?") The lodge features hand-hewn log beds, quilts and hand-painted furniture. Nearby, golden eagles nest on the high cliffs of Lover's Leap.
Location: Mountains.
