Circa 1878. Shaded by a giant holly tree, this house built in 1878 was one of the area's first bed & breakfast inns. Relax on the front porch or in the lush private garden. Stay in a spacious upstairs or first-floor guest bedroom or a private cottage with antiques, fresh flowers and original artworks. A variety of amenities are offered from sitting areas to ocean views. A light breakfast is delivered to the room at a prearranged time and a morning newspaper is available upon request. Walk to the village shops and art galleries. Visit the Mendocino Art Center or the botanical coastal gardens. Tour Anderson Wine Valley and take the Skunk Train at Fort Bragg through the mountains and redwoods.

After being guests since 1992, we liked it so much we had to buy it. We, Jim and Ayla Douglas are the new owners of the Sea Gull Inn. The charm and beauty of the Mendocino Coast is very much the same today as it was when we first visited nearly 20 years ago. At the Sea Gull Inn we maintain the character begun by our good friend and former owner, Marlene MacIntyre. We love that Mendocino simplicity and charm with all the comforts of home. Each morning a pot of coffee, tea or piping hot chocolate, as well as orange juice and a wonderfully simple breakfast is brought to your room (you let us know what time you wish to be served). During the spring and fall seasons, many guests wish to enjoy their breakfast in our sunny, secluded garden, and watch as hummingbirds fly from Fuschia to Jasmine. The Sea Gull is truly your home away from home as well as your key to both the past and present of this wonderful hamlet--Mendocino.

This is the largest room in the main house. It is downstairs and in the back of the house. Geranium has a Queen bed and a full bed. There is a private bath with a standing shower. It has limited handicapped accessibility and an outside sitting area.

The Shed

The Shed is a cozy little cottage featuring a double bed, half-bath, privacy and character all its own. (Please note: now bathing facilities available for this room. Guests often make an event of it by visiting one of the local spas.)

The Barn is a separate cottage nestled in the gardens in the back. Featuring a private deck, living room with two love seats and TV. A separate bedroom downstairs has the Queen bed and a double bed is upstairs in the Loft.
