Old Monterey Inn

Description

Circa 1929. Built in the Tudor style with half-timbers, the ivy-covered Old Monterey Inn looks and feels like an English country house. Brick pathways and a comfortable hammock beckon guests outside to the garden. Redwood, pine and old oak trees shelter an acre of pansies, roses, peonies and rhododendrons. Most of the guest rooms have wood-burning fireplaces, skylights and stained-glass windows. Smoking is permitted in the garden.

The Old Monterey Inn is a spectacular place to have romance. With our gardens, breakfast in bed and whirlpool bathtubs in most of the rooms, it is impossible not to be in love here.

Garden Cottage

A private English cottage with its own entrance, skylights, cozy fireplace, sitting room and in-room spa for two with a skylight for stargazing. A separate bedroom is enhanced with sophisticated linens which encompass the luxurious King bed. A window seat invites a view of the lush gardens.

Ashford Suite

A handsome suite with a separate comfortable sitting room retreat and fireplace. An old-fashioned dressing room leads to a generous bath with gentleman's-size tub. A King bed is the center point of this hideaway.

Mayfield Suite

Attractive "great room suite" with separate bath, enhanced by lovely hand-painted walls contains an in-room spa tub for two, windowed sitting area, fireplace and King bed.

The Library

Book-lined walls accent a stone fireplace in this sanctuary. The King bed faces the fire and is surrounded by windows overlooking the lush gardens. A private sun deck is an inviting afternoon retreat.

The Stoneleigh

This airy room with a private entrance features an inviting whirlpool tub for two, surrounded with natural tumbled marble pebbles which are reflected in the hand-painted faux art walls. The fireplace may be enjoyed from the softly draped canopied King bed. Includes a sitting area with two comfy chairs.

Chawton

A cozy room with a secluded garden entrance features a romantic marble-framed whirlpool tub for two with a view of the fireplace at the foot of the Queen bed.

The Dovecote

Located on the 3rd floor of the Inn, decorated with handsome English influenced accents and understated pine furnishings. Original redwood beams line the ceiling and walls surrounding the Queen bed. Private bathroom with shower, fireplace and sitting area.

The Rookery

Located on the 3rd floor of the Inn, a sunny room with hand-painted furniture that brings to mind Monet's gardens. A skylight and flickering fireplace facing the Queen bed adds warmth and light. Private bathroom with shower.

The Tattershall

This many-windowed hideaway is most inviting with delightful French Toile decor. Enjoy breakfast in the comfortable sitting area, French windows and a tiled fireplace at the foot of the Queen bed. Private bathroom with shower.

Brighstone Suite

This Queen-bedded room overlooking the garden is the perfect setting for a quiet romantic getaway. Private sitting area with a comfy couch in front of the fire, hydro-thermo massage tub for two, plus a separate bath with shower.
