Description

Circa 1899. This turn-of-the-century oceanfront manor sits atop a jagged cliff overlooking the coastline of Monterey Bay, just steps away from the water's edge. Bedrooms are furnished with antiques, and each room contains a fresh rose. Thirteen rooms also boast fireplaces. Some of the museum-quality antiques were exhibited in the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. Other bedroom sets include furniture that belonged to Edith Head, and there is an 1860 Chippendale Revival four-poster bed with a canopy and side curtains. Innkeeper Don Martine has a collection of vintage MGs, six on display for guests. Twilight wine and hors d'oeuvres are served, and chocolates accompany evening turndown service. The inn is a beautiful spot for romantic getaways and weddings.

The Martine Inn is an attempt by me, Don Martine, and my staff to create a uniquely refreshing stay, so you can return to your daily life feeling rejuvenated and energized. We feature museum quality antiques. So what, you say. They each tell a story. Each one had to be cherished by prior owners for them to continue to exist. Think about the time and effort it has taken to maintain 100- to 200-year-old antiques. We try to keep modern conveniences to a minimum. They produce noise that we have to shut out, thereby not leaving us open to the true beauty around us. We have researched behaviors of the past, when things were less hectic, and try to put them into practice daily. We hope these efforts of our staff enable you to have special moments and unique pleasant surprises during your stay. Walking path follows the ocean directly in front of Inn.
