Description
Circa 1888. This Queen Anne Victorian built during San Diego's boom years stands on the once prominent Banker's Hill, half a mile from the ocean and half a mile from Balboa Park. It is surrounded by other Victorian and Craftsman homes of yesteryear. The exterior boasts ornate shingle wall panels, gables, turrets and a porch with turned spindles. Inside are 12-foot ceilings and four fireplaces. The grounds have lush tropical gardens that include orchids, roses, cacti, jasmine, jacaranda and banana trees. A fountain, patio and outdoor seating area add to the charm. The owners of Keating House have restored several homes and placed them all in the city’s historic register, and one that is in the National Register. The inn offers nine guest bedrooms, including one cottage with two bedrooms. Breakfast is served in the light, airy dining room.
