Inkeepers Notes
Imagine starting your day sipping your favorite wake-up beverage as you sit in a second-story cupola overlooking the beauty that is Clear Lake. Stroll to the "Main Station", our 100-year-old ranch house, where we serve you a delicious and filling full breakfast on our spacious veranda, with its beautiful view of the park and lake (or in front of a cozy fire in the winter months). Then take a dip in our private pool or spa or perhaps a ride on one of the bicycles we provide for our guests. Later, you might like to relax in a hammock or take a stroll on our private pier for a little bird watching. We think there is something for everyone here at the Featherbed Railroad Company and we look forward to seeing you soon. Located on the shores of beautiful Clear Lake, the Featherbed Railroad Company is situated in a park-like setting amidst ancient sprawling oak, bay and redwood trees. Each caboose is unique. Luxuriously appointed, each room has all the amenities of a fine hotel, full-size bath (most with Jacuzzis for two), cable color TV, VCR, refrigerator, heating and air conditioning and, of course, wonderful luxurious feather beds!
Room Detail
La Loose Caboose
Above the bed there is a pink neon sign proclaiming “La Playpen” and along with its red papered walls and a Jacuzzi tub for two in burgundy, well, you get the idea! Of course, there had to be smoked mirrors surrounding the bed, marbled floors and in the cupola there is a faux lady of the night. Fun, sexy but not for the faint of heart.
Wild Wild West
With its lovely antiques and its highly varnished wood ceiling, this Caboose will steal your heart. As you step into Wild West there is a hand-crafted western type bar (not stocked) with brass bar stools and large mirror. The clawfoot tub is the focus of the bathroom along with its pedestal sink and oak pull chain commode. Forest green walls with wainscoting and brass bed complete this Caboose. Original artwork by Lorraine and leave your spurs off, its tough on the sheets.
Orient Express
If you have ever wanted to venture on the “Orient Express” then this is the Caboose for you. The beautiful art deco mirror behind the Jacuzzi tub for two is the focus of this elegant room. Black, teal and gold are the colors that complete this suite and make you feel transported in time. A private deck with view of the lake and Mt. Konocti in the distance enrich the ambiance of this classic Caboose. Bon Voyage!
Wine Country
With its soft surrounding of grays and burgundies, to its romantic mural of the wine country behind the Jacuzzi tub for two you can’t help but to relax. The grape vine furniture has been lovingly crafted by hand and stenciled cluster of grapes adorn the walls. Above the wrought iron table and chairs hangs an elegant stained glass lamp and alongside the Jacuzzi tub is an antique brass wine opener. With oak floors and the mini wine press in the Cupola, well, that’s amore.
Casablanca
Step into Casablanca and in to the past with Rick and Lisa. Many movie prints and a Jacuzzi tub for two surrounded by peach colored mirrors sandblasted with palm trees. In a spot lit corner Bogie’s hat and overcoat that he left hanging on an antique coat rack. Take a few steps to Ricks Café America (sorry no bartender) and after sipping one of your favorite beverages at the bar, stroll over to our piano with sheet music from the movie, then the beautiful comfortable bed draped with fabric and mosquito netting for that Moroccan effect, complete with a red ceiling fan that gently circulates cool air on those really hot nights.
Easy Rider
After a long, scenic ride, hang up your leathers and relax in our “Easy Glider” recliner complete with saddlebags and observe the Harley touches throughout this Caboose. From the orange, black and chrome colors to the custom-made headboard with handlebars to the original etched mirror behind the Jacuzzi tub for two. While enjoying a glass of wine in the Cupola check out our 1/4" scaled motorcycle replica displayed in its own black and white tiled showroom. You don’t have to be a motorcycle enthusiast to enjoy this suite. With its beautiful marbled floors and the smoked mirrors above the bed, this is a romantic retreat for anyone.
Mint Julep
As refreshing as its namesake, Mint Julep is light, airy and guaranteed to lift your spirits. From its soft green walls, cheerful curtains, comforter and light oak floors, its bound to please. White wicker furnishings add to the freshness of this room, which includes a tiffany floor lamp and a large comfortable chair for your reading pleasure. Climb the stairs to your Cupola for a little wine tasting or better yet, a little Mint Julep tasting. You bring the fixings.
Rosebud
From its rose patterned comforter and curtains, to its oak framed entry this Caboose says welcome. For your reading pleasure there is a comfortable wing back chair and lamp, and when you’re tired of reading and before you got to your comfortable feather bed, enjoy a relaxing bubble bath in your Jacuzzi. In the morning, have your breakfast and read your morning paper in the lovely built-in breakfast nook, while the rosy glow of the tiffany lamp envelops you.
Lovers
With its lovely lace-canopied bed accented by the peach colored mirror, the Lovers Caboose is often referred to as our Honeymoon Suite. A soft blue-tiled bathroom and Jacuzzi tub for two are separated from the bedroom to insure privacy. Flowered paneled walls, oak armoire and dressing table adds to the ambiance. If you’d like breakfast delivered to your room there is a dining table with two comfortable armchairs. Angles preside over this lovely room.
