Description
Circa 1889. Located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and in the center of town, this is a two-story Queen Anne-style house with white picket fence, gabled red roof and wraparound veranda. It was originally constructed for a Wells Fargo agent. A well on the property was one of the area's three original water sources for the gold rush camp that developed here in the 1850s. In addition to the usual amenities, Bradford Place also offers in-room expanded cable television, phones with data ports as well as cookies and a garden filled with flowers. Breakfasts feature a gourmet entree and the inn's specialty, "Mother Lode Skillet," a serving of eggs, potatoes and ham. Guests have the option of being served in the parlor before the fireplace, on the veranda, or in their room, until 11:00 a.m. The historic county courthouse is next door, and guests can walk to cafes, antique stores, bookstores and shops. Nearby is Columbia (three miles) Jamestown and Murphys, and there are giant sequoias and caverns to explore. Other activities include gold panning, river rafting, trout fishing, horseback riding and carriage rides.
