Description
Circa 1892. Located on a quiet street downtown and three blocks from the Empress Hotel, this authentically restored Victorian B&B is shaded by tall trees that line the wide boulevards. A picket fence and gabled front entrance provide an inviting welcome to guests. Rooms are furnished with antiques and period decor, and each has a private bath. The five-course champagne breakfast is served fireside in the Parlor and edible flowers decorate the abundant servings of eggs Florentine, French toast with Brie, smoked salmon and other entrees. Two favorite spots are the private library where guests may enjoy a glass of sherry or tea and coffee and outside, an English herb and rose garden. The innkeeper is an author, who enjoys the historic register home's connection to the original owner, who founded the library in the Legislature Building. Stroll to the Inner Harbour, restaurants, antique shops, and theater in Victoria's flower-filled environment sometimes called "more English than England."
This property has been featured in New York Times, Travel Section June 2003 - "In Victoria, it would be difficult to find more comfortable or elegant accommodations than the Scholefield House.". Location: City/Urban.
