Description

Spanning 25 acres in the heart of cattle country in the Santa Cruz River Valley, this modern ranch with an old-west ambiance and rustic elegance is a desert delight. Amado means beloved and the name fits perfectly with the inn’s goal to extend enjoyment, rest and recreation. Nature trails and buildings blend into the landscape that includes a riparian habitat where more than fifty birds have been sighted. The inn offers a traditional high tea in the Atrium. Come dressed in period clothing; hats and feather boas are provided. There are two on-site restaurants, conference facilities and outdoor events at Grasslands or The Oasis with views of Elephant Head and the Santa Rita Mountains. Explore the night sky at the state-of-the-art astronomy center. Ask about special packages for Mystery by Design Dinner Theater.

Location: Country.

Inkeepers Notes

We have traced the history of this 7-acre riparian habitat to the four Amado brothers from Spain. The history, of course, goes back even further to the Native Americans here, before the Spaniards arrived. We're working to continue developing an enchanted desert oasis. Special feelings are apparent, including the turn-of-the-century western ambiance. Some have called it "spiritual in nature." Nick Paulos, long time Tucson restauranteur and his nephew, George Bass, operate the Amado Cafe. Also on the premises we have Terry Olsen's Art studio and Cheryl and John Taylor's Blackstar where they carry locally mined Arizona precious and exotic gemstones and custom-design jewelry. Our newest addition, a 6,500-square foot Mercado which includes a gourmet deli, will provide box lunches to take along while biking or hiking. Come and enjoy a day of sightseeing and shopping in Nogales Mexico, enjoy Chefs of America and enjoy The Center of Positive Living Madaras Cultural Center.
