Description

Circa 1875. Meticulously restored with beautiful woodwork, fine craftsmanship and architecture, this historic Victorian mansion in the old railroad town of Saint Albans, Vermont, has had only three owners while being passed down through generations. Sit amid gorgeous English gardens on one of the four porches, read in the pleasant setting of the library, or gather in one of the fireside sitting rooms on two levels. Stay in a gracious guest room with rich fabrics and period dcor. Reservations are required for high tea served English style and dinner served nightly in the formal dining room. Whole house rentals are available for special events and weddings. Walk to downtown and take a 20-minute drive to Burlington.

Romantic Interest

Back Inn Time is rich with elegance, romantic in all the right ways, and very cozy. The inn exudes a quieter, less hectic era, so couples find that conversation flows, relaxation ensues, and romance is inevitable.

Describe Garden and Grounds

The luscious grounds and gardens make for memorable events, or quiet talks. Back Inn Time is like an oasis, with four covered porches and two extremely large decks, all of which lead to garden paths, and are surrounded by greenery and floral abundance.

Historic Interest

Back Inn Time was originally built in 1858, but with the advent of indoor plumbing and the rise of the Victorian era, the original owner tore down the original house and rebuilt it as it stands today in the 1870s. The entire project was lovingly overseen by him and took five years to complete all of the luxurious details. It features amazing architecture and flourishes. Most of the mansion's original features have been well preserved. Though it is almost 160 years old, the current owners are only the fourth owner of the property; it was previously passed down through just two families for generations.
