Romantic Honeymoon

Autumn Pond Bed & Breakfast

Where do I start? When we got married a year ago we decided to spend a little time at the Autumn Pond Bed and Breakfast. This was my second time staying there and it was as memorable as the first. The rooms are tastefully decorated with a separate theme which is nice. The main room is country with large tables to play cards on or games which you can bring with you or read a book on one of the comfortable couches or chairs. There are views of the surrounding area from every window including the Cascade Mountains in the back. At night you can lounge in the hot tub or lazily swing on the front lawn looking out at the pond which is the namesake of the B&B. The memories I have of this place are enduring. The proprietor, John Lorenz, is a charming and knowledgeable person. He does a wonderful job of putting together a gourmet breakfast to fill the innards. It is a treat. John is an accomplished chef in his own right with a background to go with it. One must tie him down and converse with him because he is always busy but he does take the time during breakfast to chat with his guests. He is personable and knows a lot about the area and his recommendations for places to eat are worth checking out if you want to avoid the usual tourist places that serve mundane German style food. He has menus from the finest restaurants in town for your perusal before heading out for lunch or dinner. Hey, want to go for a hike or tube down the river? Don’t know where the place is, ask John. He will be happy to provide you with directions. The Autumn Pond is off the beaten path in the country. It is well worth the stay. The rates are reasonable and the breakfast is outstanding. Try the Autumn Pond the next time you want a quiet weekend away from the hustle and bustle of a busy city work week. You will be amazed at the quiet and serene setting. It will have you thinking that going back is not an option… Well, back to reality. Sigh We like the place so much that we are going to celebrate my wifes Birthday there. With our Daughter of course... BWG
